Making Masks, Making a Difference
Updated: 6 days ago
If you pay any kind of attention to the news, you have seen that our country, state, and community have experienced a shortage in PPE (personal protective equipment). To combat this shortage, Life Church is working closely with businesses that are making masks for the community. Thanks to the Wisconsin Face Mask Warriors group on Facebook, there have been more protective masks going out to essential workers. Some of the places that are getting these masks include hospitals, fire departments, and police offices.
I took some time to ask the head of our marketing department, Katie Apfel, what her thoughts are since she calls Life Church home.
“As a member of Life Church, it’s extremely inspirational to witness firsthand the strides that they are taking in the Brown County area,” said Katie. “I know that their donation boxes for masks and supplies are making a big difference in our community and I am so thankful to be part of a change-making church like Life Church.”
The members of Wisconsin Face Mask Warriors have been working hard to distribute many masks to critical workers throughout Wisconsin. As COVID-19 is spreading through Wisconsin, places are running out of masks and are constantly getting added to the list of locations in need each day. In the next 72 hours alone, their requests have reached over 30,000! The total amount that has been requested, just here in Northeast Wisconsin, is over 100,000. While these masks do not replace the N95 masks that everyone is hearing so much about, they do serve a big purpose in providing even a basic layer of protection to our healthcare workers and first responders who are lacking it.
Life Church is now a drop-off location for supply donation! A donation drop-off box will be located outside of Life Church in De Pere where people can donate some supplies or their sewing skills.
There are also other businesses and churches who are getting involved in the mask-making movement!
A local manufacturer that is located on Green Bay’s west side, will have made over 5,000 masks by the end of this weekend. This is thanks to the dedicated work of their team and their constant desire to better our great Northeast Wisconsin community.

After highlighting their food pantry last week, we wanted to also showcase what they are doing to fight the mask shortage. They are calling upon some of their partners to produce face masks for the essential workers of our community.
If you are good at sewing or have any supplies that you would like to donate, please visit one of the donation locations around Northeast Wisconsin!
