A Split Household
What do you do when you lean one way, and your wife leans another? What about when your father-in-law engrained the beliefs so deeply into her mind that it permeates throughout her entire being, especially this time of year? I will tell you what you do…
You bite the bullet and start to put up #Christmas decorations on November 3rd because you just love your wife that much.
You thought I was going to go in a TOTALLY different direction, didn’t you? Thankfully we are only a split household when it comes to the timing of Christmas music and decorations, and not when it comes to politics or finances.
And So It Begins…
Last night, as we were driving home from a late evening car shopping event, I turned on 104.3 WKZG to listen to the usual hair metal hour. I was expecting to get maybe some Scorpions, possibly Warrant or Winger, but I instead ended up getting Bing Crosby. My wife’s face lit up like a Christmas tree and my heart sank a little bit because Christmas seems to come earlier and earlier each year.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Christmas just as much as the next guy, but Christmas music from November 1st until December 31st? No thank you. Especially not when it cuts into the 80’s weekends and hair metal nights on KZ 104.3.
If you are like my wife, though, you will be happy to know that Christmas is just around the corner. That means two things:
Round-the-clock Christmas music on KZ 104.3 until the end of December
A staple as old as I am here in Northeast #Wisconsin is returning and is ready to Light Up The Sky (I know…what a shameless 80’s Metal/Van Halen plug…).
Mark Your Calendars
Starting on November 27th (the day after #Thanksgiving, for those of you keeping track), the #GreenBay #BotanicalGarden is putting on their 24th annual Garden of Lights. Tickets are on sale now and you can go see the lights from Nov. 27th-Dec. 20th.
To ensure everyone is aware and as safe as possible, you will find some updated regulations below:
Dated and timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance (available in 30-minute increments)
Parking available onsite and overflow parking within walking distance so guests do not have to ride shuttle buses in close contact with others.
Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the Garden.
Face coverings required in all Garden buildings (ages 2 and up) and outdoors when physical distancing is not possible.
Limited seating on horse–drawn wagon rides. Up to 10 guests per wagon (grouped by household). Face coverings required while on the wagon.
There will be one–way entry and exit points.
In the time between now and Christmas, take some time to hug your loved ones and be kind to everyone you interact with. We all have a choice to make during this stressful time of year. We can either go along with the crowd, or we can set ourselves apart and offer love during a time in which it seems so foreign – no matter what issues may split your household.
